Who is Modernist?
Modernist is a craft cocktail bar located in Brewery District, Downtown at 719 Fulton Street. Our Mission: “Be a positive contributing member of the downtown Fresno community – bringing people together through accessible, inclusive, and authentic experiences centered around craft cocktails.”
People are the first thing and the last thing. We are strong believers in the bond of human connection and love being a place that creates opportunity for people to connect with others and an experience to do so, by spreading cocktail culture while adding our own little twists to the industry. Come join us for happy hour, networking mixers, pre/post event drinks, first dates (or the 100th), a night out with friends, or just for the cocktails (or for no reason at all)!

Whether it’s making new friends, catching up with old ones, commemorating a milestone or just a night out on the town, we love celebrating all the positives in our lives and any good fortune, over the art of craft cocktails!

Community: “A feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests, and goals.” Community is core to who we are as humans, synonymous with society. At Modernist, our membership in the downtown Fresno community and the cocktail & hospitality community are fundamental to who we are.
Downtown Fresno holds a special place in our heart, and being a part of the revitalization driving growth and development in the area is the reason we chose to make our home downtown. We are believers that the road ahead is filled with endless potential and that we are still in the early stages of the downtown community’s development. As such, we strive to push forward and are beyond excited to continue building and being a part of the growing downtown Fresno community.
Community: Hospitality
At our core, we are a cocktail bar. That inherently includes membership in the hospitality community and all the ideologies that come with it, and, moreover, the bar community. We embrace our responsibility to uphold the standards of hospitality and, additionally, to espouse cocktail culture not only downtown but wherever we have an opportunity, and further establishing the Central Valley in the broader hospitality community.

As we say, “People are the first thing and the last thing,” and, everyday, we work to be a bar where people feel welcome, comfortable and want to be, anytime you are in the mood for a cocktail or simply looking for a bar. There is no pretense and we’re here to host all guests – from someone trying their first cocktail ever, to the veteran who’s lost count of how many cocktails they’ve had over their lifetime. We are here to be your guide, to be your host and to be your bartender.
